The concept behind the pots came from a desire to create a storage pot with clean, minimal lines that captured Scandinavian and Japanese aesthetics. Travelling to Japan, Denmark, and Norway across many years have cemented a love for simple forms, and the inherent beauty of natural materials.
While the pots have minimal lines, there is a certain amount of warmness to the pots. Colours were chosen based on their earthiness. The outer side of the pot was given a matte and textural outer glaze and in contrast, a high-gloss interior finish. The contrast give the pots a distinctive look and feel that is a delight to touch and handle.
Collaborating with my manufacturer was an important step in achieving the final result. The storage pots and lids are wheel-thrown, with the handle being built by hand. Each pot is also glazed by hand.
